We are proud to announce that recently two members of our team have published their research! We are proud to be a research active service, investigating and writing about up to date issues in the world of child and family psychology.  We also are keen to hear from DClinPsy trainees who are conducting research as part of their thesis, as we offer support with this.

Dr Charlotte Cucciniello, Clinical Psychologist has published her research in the Journal of Public Child Welfare.  The title is ‘A fight to work with families, rather than against them: exploring social workers’ experiences of working within the family safeguarding model; an IPA analysis’.  This study explores social workers’ experiences of working within the Family Safeguarding Model and its implications for relationships with families and professionals, and can be accessed via https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/15548732.2024.2324899

Dr Cucciniello has also published a literature review titled ‘Effectiveness of parent–infant psychotherapy for infant development, parenting, parental mental health, and the attachment relationship: a review of the literature’ in the Journal of Public Child Welfare. This review explores the effectiveness of parent infant psychotherapy as an intervention for maltreated children, highlighting the importance of screening for trauma in order to gain access to treatment.

Dr Olivia Parker who completed her thesis with Nature and Nurture as a research trainee whilst undertaking her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Birmingham has also had her research accepted for publication (in press).  Dr Parker’s research is titled  Making Sense of Adoption Disruption: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of the Lived Experiences of Adoptive Parents’ and is due to be published in Children and Youth Services Review.  This important research highlighted the profoundly difficult experiences of parents when adoption is disrupted, a theme which is key to the work we do at Nature and Nurture Psychology.
