Assistant Psychologist
Working pattern: Part time
Salary: Self employed associate basis (hourly or day rate) with a view to a permanent role in the future
Speciality: Children, young people and families.
Reporting to: Clinical Psychologist, and Clinical Director
Location: Hawkesyard Hall, Rugeley, Staffordshire, WS15 1PU.
Flexibility around online working and working from home when appropriate. School visits within Staffordshire are also part of this role (mileage is paid).
We are a passionate trauma service offering psychological services to children, families, and adults who have been affected by developmental trauma. We also have a strong focus on neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and learning disability. We recognise that children who have been affected by trauma, benefit from multidisciplinary based interventions and we offer a variety of interventions from a range of therapeutic approaches including clinical psychology, and family attachment focused therapy.

Job Summary

Provides specialist support to the Clinical Psychologists within the team, in order to complete comprehensive assessments for children and families who have been affected by developmental trauma and children who have been adopted, and our families who are undertaking autism assessments.

The successful candidate will work under close supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.

To carry out detailed psychological observations of children and young people in settings including school.

This role includes an administrative part, providing support to the manager in service related activities and development. This will enable the successful candidate to learn skills in service development.

To contribute to gathering of information in order to develop comprehensive formulations with the Clinical Psychologist.

Undertakes psychometric testing under supervision.

Scoring of outcome measures to contribute to overall psychological assessments.

Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting trauma informed interventions.

Opportunity to be involved in service research projects if desired.

To maintain comprehensive clinical notes and consultation records as defined in the operational policy.
Qualifications: A degree in Psychology (preferably with GBR).
Professional registrations required: Pre qualification post. Undergraduate degree in psychology (BPS accredited course) is a requirement.
Experience: Experience of working with children, families and young people is desirable and experience in looked-after or adopted children and early trauma and attachment disorders in children is highly desirable.
This role is ideal for an assistant psychologist who would like to gain entry to the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
